Al principio de su entrevista, Nilo Cayuqueo habla del contexto de los años 70 en América Latina, marcado por las dictaduras militares. Luego, habla de su exilio forzado de Argentina y de su carrera como activista a distancia, marcada por su participación en diversas conferencias internacionales sobre cuestiones indígenas, como las celebradas en Kiruna (Suecia) y Ginebra en 1977, así como en diversas reuniones de coordinación regional indígena en América Latina. At the beginning of his interview, Nilo Cayuqueo explains the context of the 70s in Latin America, marked by military dictatorships. Then, he talks about his forced exile in Argentine and the activist career he had while being abroad, which has been punctuated by his participation in different international indigenous conferences — such as the 1977 conferences in Kiruna, Sweden, and in Geneva — as well as in different indigenous regional coordination meetings in Latin America. He also mentions the different external actors who supported the indigenous movement.

Then, he deals with the situation of the Mapuche, who suffer both the colonial oppression and the hold of multinationals. He ends the interview by emphasizing on the need to have active, well-coordinated organizations in order to guarantee the sustainability of the movement. He advocates an approach based on solidarity and interculturality.
