The success of the 2013 Symposium was such that it was decided to organize a second Symposium in 2015. Similar to the first, this event was designed to allow other former delegates, absent in 2013, to be able to share and transmit their experiences to the younger generation. This Symposium was designed to follow up on the work done by the young people and the commitments made between them and the elders in 2013. The Symposium, lasting four days at the UN in Geneva, brought together elders and youth from the Americas, Asia, Africa, the Arctic and the Pacific.

The objectives of the 2015 Symposium

1. Ensure transmission of the international struggles of Indigenous Peoples from the older generation to the newer generations of indigenous activists in order to better guarantee the continuity of 38 years of indigenous participation at the UN.
2. Prepare an assessment of these 38 years of work with international forums and its impact at the local level.
3. Discuss the creation of an international Council of Indigenous Peoples, with the aim of facilitating the work of Indigenous Peoples at the international level and to advise the United Nations and indigenous delegates on international issues.

This meeting produced the following results:

• The 2015 Symposium Declaration by the First Delegates of 1977-1981 and the younger generation entitled : We are Still Here!
• To organize one oral history workshop per region. So far, three workshops have been organized: the 2015 South Dakota Workshop, the 2016 Buenos Aires Workshop, the 2017 Kenya Workshop, which are both documented on this Web Portal.
• To develop a platform to make accessible the material that has been recorded by the youth and document it, which has been accomplished with the creation of this Web Portal "Bridge To The Future".

It is important to note that the two Symposiums were organised by Docip, in collaboration with organisation committees, formed for these occasions, composed of Indigenous Delegates.

The Organizing Committee of the 2015 Symposium was composed of:

• Carlos Mamani, Aymara, historian, former member of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII);
• José Carlos Morales, Brunca, former member of the EMRIP;
• Nilo Cayuqueo, Mapuche;
• Marcella Gilbert, Lakota/Dakota;
• Michael Eckford Aka Anderson, Euahlayi/Kamilaroi;
• Mary Simat, Maasai;
• Wayanay Mamani, Aymara;
• Morgan Catlett-Ausborn, Cherokee.

El éxito del Simposio de 2013 fue tal que dio lugar a la organización de otro Simposio en 2015. Similar al primero, esta cita tenía por objetivo permitir a otros antiguos delegados ausentes en 2013 compartir y transmitir sus experiencias a las generaciones más jóvenes. Este Simposio aspiraba a continuar el trabajo realizado por los jóvenes y los acuerdos establecidos entre estos y los ancianos en 2013. El Simposio, que duró 4 días, reunió en la sede de las Naciones Unidas de Ginebra a ancianos y jóvenes de las Américas, Asia, África, el Ártico y Pacífico.

Los objetivos del Simposio de 2015

1. Asegurar la transmisión de las luchas internacionales de los pueblos indígenas a las nuevas generaciones de indígenas activistas, para garantizar la continuidad de 38 años de participación indígena en las Naciones Unidas.
2. Evaluar estos 38 años de trabajo en los organismos internacionales y su impacto a nivel local.
3. Debatir la creación de un Consejo Internacional de los Pueblos Indígenas a fin de facilitar el trabajo de los pueblos indígenas a nivel internacional y de aconsejar a las Naciones Unidas y a los delegados indígenas sobre cuestiones internacionales.

Del Simposio resultaron los siguientes elementos:

• La Declaración del Simposio de 2015 de los primeros delegados de 1977-1981 y de la nueva generación titulada ¡Aún estamos aquí!
• La organización de un taller de historia oral por región. Hasta ahora se han organizado tres talleres: el Taller de Dakota del Sur de 2015, el Taller de Buenos Aires de 2016, el Taller de Kenia de 2017, ambos documentados en este Portal Web.
• Desarrollar una plataforma para hacer accesible el material grabado por los jóvenes y documentarlo lo cual se ha logrado con la creación de este Portal Web "Puente al Futuro".

Cabe destacar que ambos Simposios han sido organizados por el Docip en colaboración con los comités de organización creados ex profeso y compuestos por delegados indígenas.
