Marcella Gilbert is a Dakota/Lakota woman who was only 17 years old when she attended the UN 1977 Conference as a Delegate for the We Will Remember Survival School.
She holds a Master's Degree in nutrition and has been working on her home reservation, nationally and internationally on issues of food sovereignty and traditional foods revitalization.

As part of this project, she participated in the 2013 Symposium and the South Dakota Oral History Workshop and she was a member of the organizing committee of the 2015 Symposium and the 2015 South Dakota Oral History Workshop.
