Hazel Law es una lidereza y activista Indigena del Pueblo Miskita. Nació en el municipio de Waspán, en la Región Autónoma del Atlántico Norte de Nicaragua.

Ex diputada y magistrada, lucha desde 16 años en contra de la discriminación racial. Defiende los derechos humanos de las comunidades indígenas y promueve la equidad entre mujeres y hombres. Diputada ante la Asamblea Nacional, logró en 1990 la promulgación de la Ley de Autonomía, que reconoce los derechos históricos de los pueblos y comunidades indígenas de la Costa Atlántica de Nicaragua.

Participó a la Conferencia de 1981 en Ginebra como Delegada de la Organisación MISURASATA de Nicaragua.

En el marco de este proyecto, participó en el Simposio de 2015 y en el taller de Buenos Aires de 2016.

Hazel Law is an Indigenous leader and activist from the Miskita People. She was born in the municipality of Waspam in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region of Nicaragua.

Former deputy and magistrate, she is involved from 16 years in the struggle against racial discrimination. She defends the human rights of the Indigenous communities and promotes equity between men and women. Deputy at the National Assembly in Nicaragua, she achieved in 1990 the promulgation of the Autonomous Law that recognizes the historical rights of the Indigenous Peoples and communities from the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua.

She attended the 1981 Conference in Geneva as a Delegate for the MISURASATA Organization of Nicaragua.

As part of this project, she participated in the 2015 Symposium and the 2016 Buenos Aires Workshop.
