An interview of Cedric Jacobs, realized during the 2015 Symposium, in which he explains how, from the Church to the local political arena with the National Aboriginal Conference, he came to the United Nations.

He reveals that he went to the 1981 Conference to set out the problems that the Peoples faced in Australia but also to learn “the right way to go”. Discovering that the other Indigenous Peoples faced similar issues and encountering support raised his confidence in the rightness of his process.

He defines 'colonialization' as the killing of the People, either physical or cultural and spiritual, and he emphasizes that the Native People are a sovereign People to which God gave the Land. He calls young people to reclaim their leadership and to show that a path outside of the Western system –educational, political or financial– is possible. They must give hope to their People.

His message to the world is that it was misleading and should not have linked Christianism to colonization since God transmits His spirituality through the hearts of the Peoples and their ancestors. He believes that the cornerstone is: “Nature, People and God united, locked together.”

Revela que asistió a la Conferencia de 1981 para presentar los problemas a los cuales los Pueblos se enfrentaban, pero también para aprender «el camino por recorrer correcto». Descubrir que los otros Pueblos Indígenas sufrían asuntos similares y recibir apoyo despertó su confianza en la validez de su lucha.

Define ‘colonización’ como la matanza de los Pueblos, que sea física o cultural y espiritual, y hace hincapié en que los Pueblos Nativos son un Pueblo soberano al que Dios dio la Tierra. Hace un llamado a los jóvenes a que recuperen su liderazgo y que muestren que un camino afuera del sistema occidental –educativo, político o financiero– es posible. Tienen que dar esperanza a su Pueblo.

Su mensaje al mundo es que se equivocaba y que no debería haber vinculado el cristianismo al colonialismo puesto que Dios transmite Su espiritualidad por medio de los corazones de los Pueblos y de sus antepasados. Cree que el punto de partida es «la Naturaleza, los Pueblos y Dios unidos, agrupados.»
