My name is Judy Jemutai Kipkenda and I am a 30-year-old feminist and a human rights defender from the Ogiek community; a native community found in Kenya.

I am the director of programs at the Program for the Heritage of Ogiek and Mother Earth (PROHOME); a youth-led and women-centered; community-based organization located in Nakuru; Kenya. I have previously worked as a communications and public relations manager in charge of internal and external productions of videos; publications and photography at Ogiek People's Development Program (OPDP) and at Kubwa Tano Africa.

My professional experience covers advocating for the rights of girls and women; including fighting to put an end to all forms of discrimination against them; with my main focuses being on ending female genital mutilation and early marriages; documenting challenges faced by Ogiek community and other Indigenous communities in Kenya. I also fight to elevate the voice of Indigenous women in Kenya.

I am an alumnus of the Global Women Leadership School and a member of the Women in Communications and Public relations society of Kenya. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from The University of Nairobi (UoN) and a Diploma in Journalism from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communications (KIMC). I am currently an enrolled student for Gender and Climate Change at the Egerton University.

As part of this project, Judy participated in the 2013 Symposium, the 2015 Symposium and the 2017 Kenya Workshop as a young indigenous delegate from the Ogiek People in Kenya and she was a member of the organizing committee of the 2017 Kenya Workshop.
